7 Reasons why Rift is a fail!

Rift

If you visit any wow related website, mostly the important ones, curse network: mmo-champion, aj, wowhead (ZAM), etc., you will notice that Rift is all over the place.

7 Reasons why Rift is a fail!

1. Too much advertising and intruding over wow players, unlike they should not annoy the users posting advertising on websites that are wow themed. Is like spam, like you would get on your email “look, play our game, it’s better”.

2. Trion Worlds (the developers of Rift), an anonymous company is trying to compete with the biggest company in terms of game developing. Who are Trion Worlds? They don’t even have a wikipedia page. Looking on their official website (trionworlds.com), seems they have released only two more games, “End of Nation” and “Sify Action MMO”. Nobody heard about those games, and they already come up with a game comparable with World of Warcraft. This only shows arrogance and stupidity.

3. Lame atempts. Rift will combine all the good aspects of today’s MMOs, WoW, Guild Wars, Age of Conan, etc.
Big fail! If you won’t come with something new, nobody will see those “good aspects”. Guild Wars already tried and failed when they tried to merge wow, diablo and bioware’s games (neverwinter nights, baldur’s gate, etc) into a single game.

4. It’s coming too late, after many many years of World of Warcraft, players are already filled up with the fantasy, same concepts. A WoW clone won’t do anything good. A game like Risen 2 made by a small German team has all the chances to get more money and more respect from the fans. Rift is just a money sucker that will get some money from the subscribers for a while, and after they will just make the game free and in the end close the servers.

5. Rift is ugly. The game has no sense of art. Is just booring looking, nothing artistic there. Is not just about graphics, is about level design and game architecture. Watch some Rift gameplay videos on YouTube and you will see the lame environments, the characters that are running like being cripple, some things that are more for the games released 10 years ago, see the ugly circles under characters. Also characters having no good looking gear, the fights are not dynamic, not a single feeling that you are there to “get some real action”.

6. Rift is trying to fix wow bugs. Like Heroic Leap who actually works on higher ground in Rift, but not in WoW.
Playing Rift just because it’s fixing wow bugs is just betraying your former game. This is what WoW is all about, bugs, imbalance, blue posts, nerfs, buffs and angry people whining on the forums. Nobody likes a perfect world like Rift claims that has created.

7. The overall reason why Rift is a fail, is that this game won’t bring anything new, no fancy experiences, the game is still rated for “12 years old”, doesn’t have a world in ruin, neither a beautiful world, no story, no gameplay. Is just another MMO that benefited from an advertising boom.

You’re ignorant, and your first 2 points have you be the most moronic I’ve read in awhile…

First off, if you remember when WoW first came out, they were advertising EVERYWHERE, even on EQ forums, etc.

And to put it down just because a company is unknown? What the hell is that? Have you even tried the game? Even Blizzard was unknown at one point, but they made some good games and got their name out there.

But to conclude, I disagree with all your points – you expressed bias opinions rather than stating known facts. Go back to WoW… you obviously shouldn’t be playing any new games.

never seen so much comments in here.

Looks like “hate it or love it”-thing.

i don’t knew much about rift. intrest engaged.

as i like the Warcraftlore, i don’t think new games can compete with the lore… but maybe with the gameplay.

“looking on their official website (trionworlds.com), seems they have released only two more games, “End of Nation” and “Sify Action MMO”. Nobody heard about those games,”

umm wow if you would of actually ‘read’ the website, in perfectly legible font next to the screen shots on a clean white page.

“In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Trion and Syfy are collaborating to develop a new science-fiction franchise to be simultaneously launched as a global television program on Syfy and a massively multiplayer online action role-playing game (Syfy Action MMO) from Trion.”

goes on to say basically that’s its in development… umm Scifi errmmm, SyFy has picked them to collaborate with an almost experimental type of game/series joint thing, yea… they tooootally suck, and if i was being to vague or you didn’t care to actually pay attention… that was sarcasm.

oh and “When will End of Nations be released?
We have not set an official release date for End of Nations, but this website will always have the latest information about the game’s development and important dates.”

ya in plain view for your reading pleasure centerscreen… they havent released those games yet, so… yea… great research.

    ok someone fail’d #1 i just fail’d #2 whose up for #3?

oh side-note, first and due to lack of tangible research and quality… last time reader.

btw i lie WoW and was seeing if Rift was worth a look into and this ‘and about 3 days of reading reviews and finding a friend with the game so i could try it’ has convinced me to give it a shot, your

“this is what WoW is all about, bugs, imbalance, blue posts, nerfs, buffs and angry people whining on the forums. Nobody likes a perfect world like Rift claims that has created.” and especially this “Playing Rift just because it’s fixing wow bugs is just betraying your former game.”

comment has nudged me to shell out the extra 10 for the digital collectors on steam.

hahaha betraying?!?!?!? wow its a game not a county, i dont think bliz is gonna put me up on treason charges.

I agree with the blogger here… rift is a fail… it is not the right time… release just after cata…. really bad planning tbh…

another wow clone… nothing will kill off wow apart from wow itself…

timing is quite good, as the pros has reached the end of the content allready and the casuals start to whine about the hard heroics and get rid of the wipingtime^^

4.1 will not bring us new arenaseason or new raids, just some easytime heroics to farmup twinks.

I tested Rift now by myself, i don’t think it can compete with WoW, but i really like the way you can create your own char. (more individual than WoW)

i like the female chars more there but as a man i don’t play female chars in MMOs.

i don’t write anything about your fail “7reasons-****”. the others allready did really well.

    (sry for bad english)

have you actually tried this game i was lucky enough to beta test it and as a seasoned wow player (been playing from a month after its release) I was pleasantly surprised personally i dont think its a wow killer but its worth a look if your looking for a change or a second game to play the game mechanics are very fluid and the character spec system is both very familiar and yet very new theres massive scope for character customisation so heres my view dont listen to this post go try the game im sure soon there will be a 10 day free trial or something its well worth a look and quite enjoyable tbh

All I can add here is that I played the rift betas and its just not for me personally. I have played WoW for many years and I feel its a part of me. I don’t think Rift brings anything new to the genre to warrant changing games.

Again this is just my opinion.

Rift is a decent game, but thats just it. Its nice and new, however it won’t compare to WoW. People say look at WoW when it came out, yeah your right it was similiar then. But were not back when WoW came out, ther4e is way to much for Rift to try and compete with and I don’t think any game will be able to compete with the PVE in WoW. Besides Blizzards next MMO is going to kill all MMOs out anyway imo. Look up Titan

ok Rift isnt a fail because if you take time to actually look at the classes and abilities they are way better than WoW. for example, why do WoW hunters have only two melle moves and one of which does no damage(yes i know they are a ranged class)but when a rogue is hammering you in a bg,you need a lil more than ice trap or chain to get him off you.The hunters and rogues on Rift have sooo much more available to them in terms of abilities.Ranged weapons are better and pvp is actually fair based on skill not gear, like WoW is.and they dont tweak or premake the bg’s(and dont say WoW doesnt)So before you post your next ignorant blog i suggest you take the time to research the info first before posting a rant that makes you look like a complete idiot

Ive been playing WoW for a whie now, it hooked me because it had everything i wanted in an MMORPG. Lots of races, lots of classes, a fantasy world, story, ots to do, etc. This will sound stupid, but im kind of attached to it now, because ive been playing it for so long.

But Rift looks reasonably refreshing, i would like to give it a go, but im not prepared to pay £35 just to leave in 10-15 days. I like the way who their are humans and elves on both sides, but i wish there was 10-day free trial :(

yeah 2m bull**** why then on 3rd day of free trial when all got lvl 15 there was no one with hom to finish the rifts

I was runing liek crazy just to not die ….
Rift gives onyl wrong info…. from moment they sid that will blow wow ….
Free trial after a fail trial move sure nobody wasted to waste money on unknown gamer

now they gived 7 day free trial with lots of limits and BOOOM
tooons of ****** going to try it truth that they will be disapointed and will Update teir wow subscribe agein…

I tried Rift a couple of months ago. I didn’t like it, simply because I was comparing everything to WoW. It’s not bad, and I can see why people could choose it over other MMOs, but i am a bit too old for changes right now, since I got used to WoW style.

The one thing that in my opinion Rift should change would be graphics. Trying to make realistic graphs is the safest way to fail, since MMOs that use a ‘realistic’ engine only succeed on making the characters move around like robots. It’s Blizzards trick to leave the weak point of their game being the “cartoony graphics” pushing all competition on trying to win them on this field, only to fail miserably.

Other than that, Rift is nice and I hope people enjoy it.

All I know is I went back to wow to run zg, za, and all the goodies soon to come with the fire expansion.

Rift died for me after the first 2 weeks. I was bored with the ugly pets, environments, boring rifts appearing every pointlessly being ganked by noobs. It just became boring. Everything about rift is low quality and even the music seems like a noob that got their hands on east west quantum library.

I can only hope that gw2 and the other few new releases won’t be as cheap.

rift puts me to sleep. bad character design, graphics, animation stinks. There is nothing fantastic in rift. No cool looking mounts, pets or anything. Like a kids drew the game. ewwww. I seriously say ewww.

I don’t like Rift at all, but almost everything OP said is a really stupid reason to think its a bad game.

It’s not a bad game, you just don’t like it. I don’t like it either. It’s generic, unoriginal, and extremely “soulless” feeling. I feel no connection to Telara, and I really don’t give a damn if it explodes or not. I find Rifts to just be massive public grinds that are pretty pointless. There are no new features that I don’t already have in WoW or Aion, just a higher polygon count, which isn’t what I’m looking for.

Especially if its at the cost of a decent or memorable story/setting.

Last thing, in a FANTASY game, they should use a FANTASY story, not a SCIFI story. That doesn’t make any sense. It feels like all of the story in Rift was made up on the spot by some super DnD nerd who just saw Donnie Darko. It really sucks.

    Cause it’s ugly?

You, sir, are a m**** and have no idea how business works. The ONLY problem with Trion not being known is the lack of lore for them to build on. They can just create it as they go and while that sounds great to e average fanboy, it’s terrible. New guy comes in and goes somewhere else with the game, thus abandoning the original idea.

You hate on the advertising. Are you joking me? See your previous reason and tell me something. If they aren’t known and can’t advertise, just how in the **** are they supposed to get their game out there? lol.

And finally, I love it when people yell “wow-clone”. It instantly flags you a fanboy and a ******** in a single word. Rift, GW, SWToR, Lineage 2, and LOTRO all copied WoW too huh?. They are all mmo’s and in the same genre. I guess you could say Call of Duty copied James Bond Golden Eye from n64 too?

Go ahead and label me as a Rift fanboy. I play it and I played WoW for years since it’s release. I also played EQ and EQ2. While you’re at it, delete my comment because it disproves all you said.
